Work with your courage high.
Work with your courage high.

Susan Furneaux works with natural dye, hand embroidery and found objects to tell stories in cloth and thread. Themes and characters are inspired by the natural history, folklore and landscape of Newfoundland and Labrador. She often combines locally harvested nontraditional fibres with historic stitching techniques to create contemporary narratives.

Eager to share her passion and knowledge, Susan has taught classes throughout North America. She has a large following of students who enjoy her eagerness to pass on skills, as well as her casual teaching style.

Susan has been the recipient of the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts and Letters Award, The West Award for Personal Expression, The Craft Council Annual Member's Exhibit Jurors Choice Award and the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador's Award for Excellence in Craft.

Commissions welcomed.
